What a year in Seattle actually looks like

A calendar page with handwritten notes pinned to a corkboard

A year ago I drove up with a car full of boxes and a job I’d never actually seen the office for. Here’s the version of that year I don’t usually post: the first two months where I ate cereal for dinner more than I’d like to admit, the September where I didn’t make a single plan that wasn’t work, and the January I finally, finally made a friend who I now consider family.

It wasn’t linear. Some months felt like the montage part of a movie. Others felt like nothing was happening at all, and then I’d look back three weeks later and realize that was exactly when things had quietly clicked into place.

If you’re in the “nothing is happening” part right now, that part counts too. It’s not a delay before the real story starts. It is the real story.
