About

Hi, I'm Brooke.

By day I'm in sales, chasing quotas and cold-calling strangers. By evening and weekend, I'm here, writing about the city I talked myself into moving to alone and never quite got over.

The short version

I moved to Seattle knowing exactly one person.

I'd never been west of Texas before I flew out for the interview. Three weeks later I packed a car and drove up anyway, mostly because staying in Jacksonville felt like a decision I'd already made by accident, and I wanted to make a different one on purpose.

The blog started as a way to remember things, honestly. A restaurant I liked, a hike that kicked my butt, a coffee order I wanted to find again. It turned into this: a running, slightly chaotic scrapbook of a life I'm still very much building.

How I got here

The path, roughly

  1. 01

    The day job, first

Landed the tech sales role, said yes before I let myself overthink it.

  2. 02

    The drive

Four days, one very full car, and a playlist I still can't listen to without getting emotional.

  3. 03

    The blog

Started posting three months in, mostly so I'd remember what I'd actually done with the year.

The Brooke binder

A junk-journal version of me: stickers, tape, and everything glued in a little crooked on purpose.

Hi, I'm Brooke.

26, Seattle-based, coffee-fueled, permanently mid-adventure. By day I'm in sales, by every other hour I'm here writing it all down.

I moved to Seattle knowing exactly one person. I packed the car, loaded up my two dogs, and drove 3,000 miles across the country without ever setting foot in the place first.

before seattle

Ever since the end of high school, something in me kept pulling away from Florida. I get why people dream of living there. When you're a kid it really does feel like vacation every day: toes in the sand, wind in your hair, the adults all at work while you've got nothing hanging over your head.

no responsibilities, like a sword that never actually swings

I didn't leave right at 18, though. I moved out of my parents' house and into a place of my own for a couple of years first.

the leap
The car packed up with two dogs, ready for the cross-country drive

Fast forward to 2025. It hit me that I work remote, which means I can work from anywhere in the country. So why not move?

That's exactly what I did, after months of labor-intensive work getting the house ready, without ever having set foot in the state I was moving to.

Orange first, blue a close second, never those two together. I'm a Florida State Seminole, so that combo is basically a crime.

the best friends are the ones where a day, a week, or six months apart doesn't change a thing
