A love letter to Pike Place Market

Flower stalls and produce stands at Pike Place Market

I go to Pike Place for the same three things almost every time: a bag of the good peaches (seasonal, worth the wait), a bunch of whatever flowers look happiest that day, and a loop past the fish stand purely for the theater of it.

It’s touristy, sure. It’s also where I bought my first Seattle houseplant, had my first real conversation with a stranger here, and figured out which coffee stand doesn’t oversell the view (you know the one). Some places are for locals and some are for visitors, and then there’s Pike Place, which somehow manages to be both without feeling like it’s performing for either.

If you’re visiting, go before nine. If you live here, go on a Tuesday. Either way, get the peaches.
